	The National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification is dedicated to licensing well-prepared, safe and wholesome educators for our nation's schools. NASDTEC represents professional standards boards, commissions and state departments of education in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, the U.S. Territories, New Zealand, and British Columbia, which are responsible for the preparation, licensure and discipline of educational personnel. Associate members include Canadian provinces and representatives of other constituent groups with an interest in the preparation and certification of educational personnel.

The NASDTEC Clearinghouse is a searchable database administered by the education departments of NASDTEC members. Access to the Clearinghouse is restricted to authorized users only. The Clearinghouse was one of the first innovators to transition from a mainframe-based computer database system to a wholly distributed, web-based system that relies on data maintenance by its member organizations. The result was a significant reduction in cost, and an ever increasing array of online services for its members. The Clearinghouse is a secure site, protected by advanced security protocols to maintain the integrity of its data. The technology at the heart of the NASDTEC system includes:
	A secure Client Administration area where members add teacher certification reports to the Clearinghouse. This information is then available for all of its members to search when researching teacher certification issues.
	A directory of NASDTEC members, affiliates and contacts maintained by NASDTEC from this administration interface.
	A series of reports, drawing from information contained in the databases. This reduces the costs involved in preparing and managing this information for NASDTEC.
